Team South Africa are the 2026 All Africa Team Championship golf champions, closing with a team round of 202 in Tunisia on Saturday to finish on 624 and beat Morocco by four shots for a record-extending 13th continental title.
Morocco had led by eight strokes overnight. By the time the last South African card was signed, the margin had swung twelve the other way.
Final team standings:
1. South Africa — 624 (-24)
2. Morocco — 628 (-20)
3. Zambia — 646 (-2)
The championship runs over 54 holes with four players in each team and only the best three scores counting in any round, so one bad card can be thrown away and the other three have to carry the day.
Chasing Morocco At The All Africa Team Championship
South Africa opened with 214, two under par as a team, and sat fourth. Morocco went out in 205, eleven under, with Mohamed Bouhamou’s 66 leading the field by three.
The second round was where the gap started closing. Ivan Verster signed for a four-under 68, CJ van Wyk and Jonathan Wilsenach both returned 70s, and the 208 that came out of it moved South Africa to ten under and into second place.
Morocco still led, on 414 to South Africa’s 422, with eight shots between them going into Saturday.
Two 66s On The Final Day
Judd Sundelson and Wilsenach both shot six-under 66 on the closing round. Van Wyk added a 70, and the three of them produced 202, fourteen under par as a team.
That left Verster’s 74 as the score South Africa could discard.
Morocco went the other way. Bouhamou, the first-round leader, came home in 77, and Morocco’s counting total for the day was 214.
Jonathan Wilsenach Makes A Debut Count
Wilsenach, the Ekurhuleni golfer and the only new cap in the side, finished second in the individual championship on 208, eight under par. He went 72, 70, 66, improving in every round of his first tournament for South Africa.
Sundelson, the reigning South African Amateur champion, was third on 209, seven under, tied with Morocco’s Reda El Hali.
Van Wyk and Verster both closed on 212, four under, in a share of fifth. All four South Africans finished inside the top five.
